RAM Space + Photoshop Question?!?

I am trying to download Photoshop Elements 5.0 onto my Dell Insipron 1300. Last time i attempted to do this, the laptop crashed, although i think it was because i did not check the CD, but i am not sure.

Anyways, the box says that 256MB of RAM is required, and 512 MB of RAM recommended. I currently have 504MB of RAM.

Is it okay for me to install it? Or do you think it might cause another crash ?

If its not , i'll go out and buy more RAM. But i would just like to know before i spend my money.

well, windows is telling yo the exact amount of your ram. in actuality, you have 512mb. this, according to what you said is enough. i had photoshop element 2.0 with 512 mb of ram and it worked well. i noticed that when doing intense work, it will slow down. i suggest quitting all applications other than photoshop when using photoshop. if you want to do more, get more, to put it simply.
