Ive downloaded photoshop for a free trial. Every photo I open to edit has locked layers. I know normally u can unlock them by clicking the lock feature but this is not an option as its gray.
Is there any other way of doing this because it means im not able to use all the features?

Right click the image on the layers palette (bottom right), and most likely the layer will be entitled ''background'', and select ''Layer from background''.
That should unlock it.

Can you copy the layer and work on that? I've never used the sample... (layer, copy, new layer)
No, you have to buy the full version to have all the other features. They do that on purpose !
you must understand that photoshop is a software for professionals and may be difficult to learn. People do courses to learn it. why dont you try a much simpler yet more powerful software like this which is fun and everything you do in photoshop can be done in this. http://wingstonmathews.googlepages.com/x...
